RE: Motor Scooters

Almost all China Scoots in the 150cc size are clones of the tried and true Honda GY6 designed in the mid eighties. Parts are plentiful over the Internet. Dealers of Japanese bikes don't have suppliers that can source the parts that are readily available. Don't get one of these bikes if you can't turn a wrench. A PDI is required. You have to loctite all the exhaust bolts replace fuel lines, fuel filter, and watch for pinched or misrouted vacuum lines. A small engine shop (lawnmower) can easily work on these things at a much lower hourly rate than a Scooter shop. Even a Taiwanese SYM or Kymco cost twice as much. I don't think Honda, Suzuki or Kawasaki offer a 150cc right now. A used eighties Honda has more part problems than my Xingue, and lets face it, I'm not going to wear it out. Overall, its a great compromise.

RE: Cleaning mildew off of inside of PUP

Walmart and West Marine sell Spray 9 cleaner that will remove mildew without damage to the surface.

RE: Motor Scooters

I just bought a Xingue ITA 150 (BMS Pathfinder 150) from Scootertronics. $1.699 including assembly and delivery. Included a matching trunk. 60-65 mph pretty easily.

RE: Tow Vehicle Nightmare- First Long Distance Trip

These costly repairs are the downside to diesel ownership. The mileage and power are nice, but.....

A Curt front receiver on the Ford doesn't require relocating the fog lights.

RE: Exercise 4 MO Springer while riding bike?

This explains the Springer.
According to this site, you let the dog run at its own pace. I don't run any more. Other than running in the back yard, the dog doesn't get to run at all. Would 1/4 or 1/2 mile be ok? It looks like I can cause him harm by not letting him run, and cause him harm by running him too hard. Is there a happy medium? BTW, thanks for the advice on the Springer!

Exercise 4 MO Springer while riding bike?

New dog owner here. We have a nice bike-only trail that is close to my house. Scout loves to run. Can you exercise a dog while riding a bike? I know to ditch the choke collar and use a harness, but what length of rope? I'm not sure this is safe, but I think it would give him a great work out. The way he likes to lead, maybe he can pull me!

RE: 4 month old Springer pulls during walks

I've started feed in him meat treats when he's in his Halti. He hates it less now. I need to teach the dog how to fetch and really get him worn out before we walk. I'm going to put him back on the harness instead of the choker collar. For those using the search feature, this 4 MO pup uses a size 1 tightened up all the way. Any looser, and he chews the bottom strap.

RE: Higher Mileage Excursions

The best part of the X is the towing mirrors. I appreciate them more when not towing, and I rarely pull them out. It is the wide angle bottom mirror that is so useful in every day driving. I would try to get them through an online salvage yard, or e-bay. Of course, I would try what I had before I bought anything. You might be able to engineer some kind of swap with a salvage yard.
Load range D tires have a squisher sidewall, which MAY give more sway than you like. You may be able to compensate for that with your sway control, or it may not be objectionable to you. Try it and see how it does.

Local feed supply place had a "Halti", which looks like a gentle Leader. Dog hates it (for now), but he walks like a different dog! Thanks everyone.

4 month old Springer pulls during walks

My 4 month old Springer pulls badly during walks. I don't want him to get in front, so I keep a very short leash, but he pulls so hard he chokes himself. It is better when he gets tired. I don't let him get in front, but it takes constant effort. Am I doing everything I need to be doing?

RE: Slide Out Tray for Storage Compartment

As an alternative, consider using a series of laundry baskets. They are the perfect size, and slide in and out easily.

RE: Talladega Week is here...Interesting stories???

I'm missing my first Spring Dega race since 2003. The first few times were really amusing, but I've kind of grown tired of it. I'll skip a few years and it will all seem fresh again!
